A long-running York nightspot could be set for a big change.
The people behind Flares York are looking for a new operator – and say it’s a chance to re-brand and relaunch the late night venue.
The Stonegate Group owns Flares, on Tanner Row, and is advertising its fixed-term tenancy.
The details say: “Perfectly positioned in the heart of York city centre, this vibrant site has long been a favourite among party-goers, students, and weekend revellers looking for great music, dancing, and unforgettable nights out.
“Designed for high-volume, late-night trading, the venue features a spacious dance floor, multiple bars, and vibrant décor that instantly set the tone for fun and entertainment.”
A new operator could put their own stamp on the nightclub, Stonegate say.
“Now available for a new chapter, this is a rare chance to de-brand and reinvent the space with a fresh concept.
“Whether relaunched as a retro-themed party bar, a student-friendly club, or a modern nightlife destination, this venue provides the perfect foundation to run a nightclub in York that stands out from the competition.”

Flares York has an annual potential turnover of £669,336. It has a guide rent of £39,000 a year.
“This opportunity will best suit a bold, creative operator with experience in running late-night, entertainment-led venues,” the details say.
The regional manager says: “This is the perfect chance for an ambitious, nightlife-savvy publican to step into a ready-made venue and make it their own.
“Whether you bring a fresh brand, a student-driven offer, or a new entertainment theme, the building, the location, and the audience are all there – waiting for the right person to bring them together.
“For a passionate late-night operator, Flares, York isn’t just another bar — it’s a launchpad for something spectacular.”
