A woman was raped in York last night (Tuesday).
It happened on Bar Lane at around 10pm.
Police have launched an extensive investigation. The victim is receiving specialist support whilst the investigation continues.
Incident location
A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation. He remains in custody for questioning.
Witnesses told YorkMix that an arrest took place on Tanner Row at about 10am, with several police vehicles and a force drone at the scene.
An long section of Bar Lane close to the city walls remains cordoned off with a police guard.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The scene has been cordoned off to the public to allow for a forensic examination.
“We will keep you updated.
“In the meantime, witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage are urged to come forward.”
