Police have secured a court order banning a persistent shoplifter from a Selby supermarket.
Jaimee Leigh Reilly, 25, had targeted Farmfoods on Micklegate, on ten occasions since April this year. The thefts resulted in a significant loss to the store, and distress to the staff working there.
York Magistrates Court imposed a Criminal Behaviour Order for two years, banning her from entering that Farmfoods branch for any reason. The order will be monitored by North Yorkshire Police. Breaching it is a serious criminal offence.
Shoplifting is far from a victimless crime, say Selby Police.
“The loss to businesses results in higher prices for law-abiding shoppers, and the fear of crime makes the jobs of innocent staff members more difficult. We will continue to use all the tools at our disposal – including court orders – to clamp down on this offending.”
