Knife-wielding raider threatens staff at Busby Stoop garage

A man with a knife has made threats to a staff member at a garage in North Yorkshire.

At 8pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 November) police received a report of a robbery at the Busby Stoop garage on the A61 near Thirsk.

The suspect left the garage and made off in his car. No injuries were reported.

Following extensive enquiries, the suspect’s vehicle was traced and stopped in the Greater Manchester Police area at Junction 20 on the M62 West near Rochdale, and the driver was arrested just after 9.30pm.

A local man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of robbery and being in possession of a knife in a public place, and remains in custody for questioning.
