Malton Police want to recruit more Police Support Volunteers.

Malton Police are launching a campaign to recruit Police Support Volunteers.

The campaign, which will be launched at the Malton Christmas Market on Saturday 6 December, will invite individuals to give their time to support policing in their community.

Malton Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Martin Dennison said: “The Police Support Volunteers scheme is ideal for people who want to volunteer to get involved in policing and make a difference to their community.

“Being a PSV is about giving up some of your spare time in a variety of ways while working alongside police officers, PCSOs and police staff to protect the public and cut down crime and anti-social behaviour.

“It’s also about bringing a wide range of skills and experience that can add huge value to our work.

“The activities we’re looking for volunteers to undertake range from supporting officers in crime prevention campaigns, cleaning and maintaining police vehicles, preparing Parish Council Reports and assisting with police training as a role player.

“The aim is to give members of the community the chance to get involved with supporting the Neighbourhood Policing Team, help reduce the amount of time officers spend in the police station and enhance the service we already provide in the Malton area.”
