Firefighters called to fire in York kitchen

Crews were called to a fire in a York home last night (Monday).

It happened on Sutton Way at 7.25pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Acomb and York responded to a kitchen fire which was out on their arrival.

Sutton Way, York

“The cause was due to wiring on a tumble dryer, which had caught fire due to radiated heat from an oven hob, the hob having been switched on accidentally.”
