Driver cut free after crash in York village

A driver needed to be cut free from their vehicle after a crash near York last night (Thursday).

Emergency services were called to the incident on Appleton Road, Bishopthorpe at 6.59pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Acomb and York attended a single vehicle road traffic collision where the driver was medically trapped inside the vehicle.

“E-draulic cutting tools and stabilisation equipment was used to be able to extricate the casualty and they were left in the care of the ambulance.”
