Police believe a car was deliberately driven into a house in a village near Selby

Emergency services were called in after a car crashed into a house in North Yorkshire last night (Monday).

It happened at Grey Fold, Byram, south of Selby, just after 11pm.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver and to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident as officers believe it was deliberately driven into the building.

An engineer will need to assess the full extent of the damage, but thankfully no-one was injured in the incident.

The investigation is underway, and there is nothing in police enquiries so far to suggest there is a wider risk to the community.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said:

“Crews from Tadcaster, Selby and Pontefract were requested by police to attend a road traffic collision in which a car had impacted a house.

“Crews assisted with making the scene safe by stabilising the property using cordon tape and lighting.”
