An investigation has been launched after a man was injured trying to escape from police in York.
The incident was why a stretch of the ring road was closed for several hours this morning.
It involved two police officers and a member of the public shortly before 2am.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attempted to speak to a man who was riding a bicycle near the Great North Way and Millfield Lane roundabout in York.
“However, as he tried to evade them, he sustained a leg injury.
“He was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.”
The road was closed while an investigation took place and reopened at 10.45am.
The Independent Office For Police Conduct has been informed, along with North Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Department.
The force spokesperson added: “The investigation is ongoing, and we ask people not to speculate while enquiries continue.”
