Four fires were started deliberately in North Yorkshire last night (Wednesday).
A lakeside bird hide was set alight in Heslington – you can read more about that here.
At 7.35pm, York firefighters were called to a fire started in the open near Rawdon Avenue.
It was out when they arrived and the crew dampened down the area.
Next, at 9.01pm, a crew from Selby was called to Common Lane, Burn.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “This was found to be a fire measuring approximately 20m by 20m consisting of garden and household waste.
“Crews extinguished using two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera. Cause believed deliberate.”
Then at 9.04pm, firefighters were called to a fire in the open on Stray Road, York.
Again it was out when they arrived. The crew dampened down the area using a knapsack sprayer.
