A woman died in a crash that closed the A19, police revealed today (Friday).
The crash, near Great Thirkleby, close to Thirsk, shut a stretch of the road for several hours on Wednesday.
At about 2.20pm, a grey BMW travelling north and a Skoda Fabia travelling south collided.
Crash location
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said today: “Sadly, the female driver of the Skoda was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Her family are being supported by specially-trained officers.
“The female driver of the BMW was taken to hospital for treatment.
“We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle before the collision, or the collision itself, to get in touch – or anyone with dashcam footage that could assist our investigation.”
