Firefighters were called to a fire started on the balcony of a home in York last night.
A crew went to the incident at 10.20pm on Bull Lane.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York mobilised to smoke sighted on the balcony of a residential property.

“Crews investigated and found the occupant had lit a small pile of papers on their balcony but had extinguished it on their arrival.
“Crews dampened down the balcony and inspected the area for any fire spread. Advice was given to the occupant.”
