Youths shoot gel blaster gun at people and cars in North Yorkshire

Police are investigating after youths fired a gel blaster gun at people in Boroughbridge.

The three teenagers, dressed in black, shot the water-based gel pellets at passers-by and cars between 1.30pm and 3.40pm on Sunday.

It happened on the High Street, Horsefair, in the riverside car park and at the salmon ladder.

Police say it may have happened anywhere in Boroughbridge during these times.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The youths in question have been stopped, searched and the gel blaster gun seized.

“If you were in the area and believe you have been shot yourself or car please respond to this message.”

Gel guns or gel blasters are legal in the UK as toys, but you must use them responsibly on private property or designated sites, never in public, and avoid them looking like real firearms to prevent legal issues under the Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA).
