A new drive-thru is coming to York, with newly-lodged plans showing who is behind it.
An application to install 27 signs featuring KFC branding on the drive-thru which is currently being built at the Monks Cross Shopping Park has been lodged with City of York Council.
Developers Lionacre stated in their plans that the American fried chicken chain is set to open its new outlet by the Lidl supermarket, in Monks Cross Drive.
It comes work to build the new drive-thru remains underway.
Construction firm AKN Build Ltd said in a social media post a number of key milestones on the project have been completed in recent weeks.
They include completing putting up the building’s steel frame, installing its roof sheeting and fitting its underground storm and foul water drainage.
The firm said on LinkedIn: “A great effort from everyone involved as the project continues to take shape.
“We remain ahead of programme and look forward to successfully closing out the project in the coming weeks.”
KFC is currently advertising for staff to work at the drive-thru, with the role of team leader open for applications until Sunday, 2 August.
The latest plans follow an application which was approved in 2022 to build a KFC drive-thru in the car park of ASDA at Monks Cross.
There has been no update shared publicly on those plans since.
KFC currently an outlet in Blossom Street in York city centre, and another at Clifton Moor.
