The owners of a thriving York business that’s always working to help the local community have been named on a list of top business people.
Matt and Amy Halliwell are among Britain’s Great 100 Manufacturing Leaders, a national recognition celebrating individuals who are actively backing British industry and strengthening manufacturing at a regional and community level.
They run Yorkshire Profiles, the laser cutting and metal fabrication business based at Hessay.
The Great 100, launched by the Made in Group, highlights leaders who are making a tangible difference; not just through growth and innovation, but through ethical leadership, long-term investment, and meaningful engagement beyond the factory floor.
Their recognition reflects the values that underpin Yorkshire Profiles as a business.
At its core, this award acknowledges the company’s community-first approach to manufacturing, including:
- Community engagement and grassroots support, through sponsorships of York RLFC and it’s players, and initiatives with us at YorkMix for the Hero Awards, which celebrate individuals making a positive difference locally.
- Charity fundraising and awareness, supporting the Tonne of Tins and Winter Warmers campaigns to support local food banks during periods of increased demand, and providing a warmer shelter get-away to those who need it during the winter months.
- Continuous investment in new technologies, not to replace people, but to protect skilled jobs, improve resilience, and support sustainable industrial growth in the region.
- Ethical leadership within a family-run business, where decisions are made with long-term responsibility to employees, customers, suppliers and the wider community.
Rather than chasing short-term gains, the focus has been on building a business that is stable, fair, and capable of adapting as UK manufacturing continues to evolve.
Matthew Halliwell said: “Manufacturing doesn’t exist in isolation. If a business is doing well but the community around it isn’t, something’s wrong.
“This recognition means a lot because it reflects how we try to operate day-to-day; investing in people, supporting the area we’re part of, and making decisions we can stand by long after the machines stop running.”
As a family business, Yorkshire Profiles has always placed equal value on capability, integrity and responsibility.
“This award isn’t about one person in isolation,” Matthew added. “It reflects the team behind Yorkshire Profiles, people who care about doing things properly, looking out for one another, and keeping skilled manufacturing alive and thriving in our region.”
