York City employees have rallied round owners Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla after YorkMix revealed they were being taken to the High Court for breach of contract.
Former owner Jason McGill is suing York City Football Club Limited “for a substantial sum”, a claim arising from his company JM Packaging’s “historical financial support of the club”.
After we asked for a response from the club, the staff sent out a statement via the club’s social media.
“Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla have shown extraordinary commitment, passion and belief in York City Football Club,” it says.
“Through their relentless hard work, unwavering support, and significant personal investment, they have transformed the club’s fortunes both on and off the pitch.
“Their vision, leadership, and genuine love for YCFC have created a culture of ambition and unity that has propelled the team to the top of the league.
“Their passion for success has made the YCFC office a place of thrived dedication from all departments.
“The progress being seen today is a direct reflection of their dedication and determination to build a club the supporters can be proud of, laying the foundations for lasting success. We stand in support of both of them.”
The club says it “will be making no further comment at this time”.
Mr McGill’s writ was lodged with the High Court on 18 February.
