Fire crews tackled a number of fires in a green space in Haxby this afternoon (Monday).
A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a fire off Reid Park, in the field behind Oaken Grove Community Centre, at 4.31pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival multiple large fires were identified.

“Crews used one hose reel jet and a knapsack sprayer to extinguish the fires. Believed to be deliberate.”
It comes after a six fires were started deliberately over the weekend.
Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of arson after the large field fire off Askham Lane in York.
