Scott Lindsey is the new head coach of York City.
The appointment was announced by the club this morning (Monday) after the shock sacking of manager Stuart Maynard yesterday.
Tellingly the new man is a head coach rather than a manager.
Lindsey joins the club shortly before its first season in the Football League in ten years.
He is an experienced League Two coach with spells at Swindon Town, Milton Keyne Dons and Crawley Town, where he guided the club to promotion from League Two via the play-offs.
He was sacked by Crawley in March during his second spell as their manager after a ten-match winless streak left them one point and two places above the League Two relegation places.
His coaching career began with a caretaker spell at Lincoln City before enjoying non-league success with Chatham Town.
In his playing days, Lindsey spent time across the EFL and non-league pyramid, including a spell at local sides Goole Town and Bridlington Town.
In a statement, York City said: “Lindsey will be assisted by assistant manager Joao Alves and first-team coach Gary Elphick, and will take charge of his first game against his former club Crawley Town on Monday, 3 August.
“Tomorrow’s game against Peterborough will be managed by Joao and Gary.”
According to Wikipedia, his win percentage as a manager is 33.7%. Outgoing manager Stuart Maynard’s overall win percentage is 40% – which rises to 73% during his 11-month York City spell.
