Time to dust off your cowboy boots – the Wild West is coming to York!
A new Nashville-inspired bar is coming to York that will bring ‘live country music, great food, and high-energy hospitality’ to the city.
The Silver Spur is expected to open later this spring, and it’s set to move into an empty restaurant.
It’s an expansion for The Silver Spur brand, which opened its first location in Wakefield in October 2025.
The director of Silver Spur Saloons Limited, the company that owns The Silver Spur bars, is Doug Smith – who was a previous licensee for The Gillygate and The Museum Street Tavern on Museum Street.
The new saloon bar is aiming to bring “a true taste of Nashville right here in Yorkshire”, and patrons can look forward to live performances, line dancing, cocktail slinging, and a whip-cracking good time.
Alongside the entertainment, there will be a big focus on food – so expect to get a taste of the Wild West too. Serving up will be pizzas, from a built in authentic pizza oven, served American style whole or by the slice, as well as loaded hot dogs, corn dogs, dirty fires, grilled cheeses and more.
The Silver Spur has yet to confirm an exact opening date, but will be swinging open its doors this spring.
It’s new home looks set to be in the former Rio Brazilian Steakhouse on Bridge Street.

Posters appeared in the window today, saying: “Saddle Up York 2026”.
The restaurant opened after a £400K fitout in 2023 but closed suddenly without explanation from the parent company.
Meanwhile, the Silver Spur is hiring! They are currently looking for roles such as general managers, assistant managers, bartenders, kitchen staff, as well as line dancers and performers.
If you’re wanting to head into the saddle, send your CV to [email protected].
