Watch: Huge queues at York City as fans clamour for tickets to crunch fixture

This is the scene at York City this morning (Tuesday).

Huge queues snake round the LNER Community Stadium, all the way round the Vangarde Shopping Park, past the Hollywood Bowl.

Supporters are queueing to get tickets for the crunch away match against Rochdale.

Rochdale are top of the National League, in the only automatic promotion spot which would take them into the Football League.

York City are in second spot, three points behind them.

On the last day of the season, Saturday 25 April, City travel to Rochdale for what could be the title decider. City have a much better goal difference, so even if they only matched Rochdale on points, they would win the title.

Today, away tickets went on sale at the City ticket office in the stadium. City have been allocated 1,590 tickets, and they are being sold at one per season ticket holder.

They go on sale in person and by phone at 8am today.

Fans have spent all night queuing outside the stadium. One fan posted a picture of a group of them tucking into pizza ordered to the line.

One posted at 4am: “Insane support. Just got here – reckon there’s about 300 in front of me.”

For those that miss out, there’s a possibility of watching the game with other supporters in York.

York City says: “We have held discussions to put on a big screen showing in York. However this will only happen should the title go down to this game.

“The showing will be communicated two weeks prior to the scheduled game.”
