Two fires started deliberately in York

Crews tackled two fires that were started deliberately in York last night (Tuesday).

They were called back to Lotherington Mews, next to Derwenthorpe Children’s Park, at 6.53pm.

Crews used a knapsack sprayer to put out a fire in the open.

It is only the latest deliberate fire there, after persistent trouble on the estate.

Then, at 9.05pm, Acomb firefighers went to multiple reports of bushes on fire at Hob Moor.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews extinguished the fire which measured 5 x 5 metres using knapsack sprayers.
