Two teenagers were injured by fireworks on a beach in Scarborough last night (Wednesday).
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene after one of the teenagers injured his face and the other his hand.
Police went to the incident on the foreshore at 7.15pm.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “It is believed that both casualties were holding the fireworks at the time.
“The beach was cleared in anticipation of the air ambulance landing, however, the casualties, both aged 18, were taken from the scene by land ambulance and the beach was reopened.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and we are appealing to anyone who was present at the scene to get in touch if they have not already spoken to the police.”
There were reports of an unauthorised bonfire and fireworks event on the beach close to the lifeboat station.
