Tadcaster Grammar School will be closed to students all day today (Tuesday).
It has been shut on police advice following the fatal crash near the school.
A girl died after a minibus carrying nine teenagers collided with a car.
Police are still at the scene, many hours after the crash. Toulston Lane and Rudgate are closed.
Tadcaster Grammar School shared this message with parents on Monday evening. “I am writing to let you know that school will be closed to all students tomorrow.
“There has been a serious road traffic collision near the school, and roads in the surrounding area will remain closed.
“Following police advice, it is not safe for us to open the site to students.
“We will provide further updates tomorrow, as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
Earlier, North Yorkshire Police released this brief statement: “Emergency services are dealing with serious two-vehicle collision on Leeds Road, near Toulston, at Tadcaster.
“It was reported at 12.28pm today (Monday 1 December 2025). The road has been closed to traffic with diversions in place.
“Witnesses or motorists with relevant dashcam footage are urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting reference NYP-01122025-0175.”
