Selby set to get a better mobile phone signal

People in and around Selby are always complaining about the poor 4G reception and phone signal.

The mobile networks have, up until now, largely dismissed concerns.

Now the town’s MP, Keir Mather, says things will change and he has been successful in persuading them they must take the issue seriously.

He has announced that new transmitters will be built.

Keir Mather says: “We went from the stage where the companies wouldn’t even admit that there was a problem, and now we’ve pushed them enough, to the stage that planning has gone in for two new masts in Selby.

“One will be on the industrial estate and the other one in Thorpe Willoughby and that will help boost the signal strength at the same time.

“Vodafone and O2 have all said that they are going to invest new money to boost the signal so they’re actually taking concrete steps to make it better.”

It’s not clear at this stage how long it will all take so for now people in and around Selby will still struggle with reception.
