A Scarborough South Bay amusement arcade could be converted into a café if the proposed plans get the go-ahead.
Jimmy Corrigan’s Ltd has applied to turn the Casino Royale amusement arcade at 47-48 Sandside, Scarborough, into a coffee shop.
The site is located on the north side of Sandside, overlooking Scarborough Harbour to the south and southeast.
The proposal for Caffe Royale would involve “minimal external changes to the building” including the installation of fully glazed, painted timber-framed windows and doors, which would sit behind the existing external roller shutter blinds.
According to submitted plans, all other works involved in the change of use would be to the interior of the ground floor unit of the four-storey building.
The upper floors are occupied by a residential property, while the ground floor is a commercial space.
Last week, Caffe Royale, at 47-48 Sandside in Scarborough, applied for a premises licence from North Yorkshire Council.
Lord Corrigan Promotions’ proposal seeks permission for the retail sale of alcohol seven days a week.

If the application is approved, the sale of alcohol would be allowed from 10am to 10.30pm, Monday to Sunday.
A planning proposal submitted to North Yorkshire Council states: “All other works involved in the change of use are to the interior of the ground floor unit, although these are minimal, primarily involving the replacement of the cash desk with a servery.
“No cooking is proposed on the premises, so no extraction equipment is proposed to be installed.”
The planning application adds: “Sandside and the harbour are an important part of the visitor experience of Scarborough and Sandside is busy for much of the year with visitors enjoying the historic setting of Sandside and the harbour with the Castle Headland above.
“Sandside forms part of the Scarborough Conservation Area.
“The use will complement the retail, food and beverage uses that can be found along Sandside and support the harbourside area’s role as an important tourism draw.”
North Yorkshire Council has not set a date for deciding on the proposal which is open to representations.
