Updated: Date set for Ripon Mayor to face a public confidence vote

The current Mayor of Ripon will face a public vote on whether electors have confidence in her in the role.

North Yorkshire Council has confirmed the Parish Poll can go ahead asking the question of around 12,000 people.

Any vote against Lib Dem Cllr Barbara Brodigan would not be legally binding and she would not have to resign.

The date has now been confirmed as Thursday 27 November.

If the people of Ripon publicly state that they have no confidence in the Mayor of the City it would be an historic result.

Recently in a meeting, the people in the public gallery voted against backing such a motion of no confidence.

However the move to demand a parish poll of residents passed as the necessary 10 people were there to call for it.
