Latest: Flood warning in York and alerts in North Yorkshire

There is a flood warning in force for the River Ouse in York.

Locations most affected will be properties on King’s Staith and riverside areas from Lendal Bridge to Millennium Bridge.

Rainfall associated with Storm Claudia has eased off now.

Flood gates have been put in place, the Foss Barrier has been lowered.

Levels are expected to peak tomorrow morning, Sunday 16th November.

At 6pm: (Saturday 14 November)The River Ouse level at Viking Recorder was 3.33 metres. Property flooding is possible when it goes above 3.00 metres.

There is also a Flood Warning on the River Nidd. Levels have risen due to rainfall associated with Storm Claudia. Levels upstream are peaking, however Hunsingore is still rising. Locations most affected will be the Old Cornmill at Hunsingore. 

The River Nidd level at Hunsingore was 1.83 metres. Property flooding is possible when it goes above 1.60 metres.

Flood Alerts are also in place for the Lower Ure around Boroughbridge, as well as the Lower Swale from Catterick south to the Ure, the Lower River Nidd and Cod Beck in Thirsk.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
