A popular York cafe has revealed the location of their second venue in the city.
The Old York Tea Room on Goodramgate shared their plans to open a second location earlier this year, and now they’re one step closer with the announcement of its venue.
The second location will be called The Old York Cake Shop and will open at 38 High Petergate, in what was previously home to the Japanese Print Shop, which closed its doors at the end of May.

The Old York Tea Room is owned by Tony and Thomas Vickers. It’s their first business together, however between them they have over 20 years of hospitality and retail management experience.
The Goodramgate tearoom has become a beloved staple in the city since their opening in 2023 and a hit with locals and tourists alike, with visitors from all over the world.
The secondary location, the Old York Cake Shop, will specialise in, as you might expect, cake! On social media, Tony and Thomas shared it will be ‘a place dedicated entirely to what we love most’ – with fresh bakes, sweet treats, cheesecakes, giant rocky roads, brownies, and more tempting delights.
The Old York Cake Shop on High Petergate will run concurrently with the Goodramgate tearoom, but the High Petergate location will be exclusively takeaway goodies.
More is yet to be revealed about the new location, with an expected opening date yet to be announced – so watch this space!
