A new cake shop is getting closer to opening in York.
Eggfree Cake Box, the latest foodie addition to Piccadilly, is getting ready to open their doors to cake lovers all over the city and beyond.
We reported in September last year that it was set to revive the now empty unit that used to house bookies William Hill at 13a Piccadilly.

Now it will open in a “couple of weeks” time, a spokesperson told YorkMix.
Now, the frontage and interior is decorated with Eggfree Cake Box’s signature purple colour, and will feature a cake shop counter and display fridges inside, as well as a preparation station.
The company opened its first shop in 2008. It now has more than 250 locations, and the new York branch would be one of many it plans to open this year – with openings this month including Bracknell and Sheffield.
All Cake Box products are 100% egg free, as founders Sukh Chamdal and Pardip Dass follow a strict lacto vegetarian diet which inspired the idea for the company.

The website says: “While all of our cakes are eggfree, you really can’t taste the difference, meaning that it is a safe choice for a party where you are not sure if anybody has any egg allergies.”
It makes and sells personalised birthday cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes and other treats.
