Some Yorkshire Water customers in Easingwold, Tollerton and surrounding areas have been experiencing low water pressure or no water at all after a pollution incident on the River Ouse.
Yorkshire Water said once they identified the pollution in the raw supply, they immediately took steps to shut down the treatment works to protect water quality.
However that is now up and running again and a spokesperson said yesterday evening: “While we fill the system back up some customers might have lower water pressure or no water in some places.
“We’re hopeful this will not be prolonged, but given the warm weather, we have taken the decision to set up bottled water stations. We are also delivering bottled water to customers on our Priority Services Register.
Yorkshire Water said it was sorry for the disruption, but it will keep everyone updated via its website or text messages if customers have signed up for alerts.
They have confirmed that no contaminated water has been released into the public water supply, so there is no risk to the public from the water they have been drinking.
