LNER drops some ticket restriction during the heatwave

High temperatures are expected throughout the UK, particularly in the southern parts of England, from tomorrow.

This can cause problems on the railways with overhead lines, the track and the signals affected.

LNER says over the coming days, they will be introducing temporary travel easements to support customers in completing their journeys more comfortably.

The changes start on Tuesday 23 June (Forecast up to 36°C along the southern part of the East Coast Main Line)

  • Customers booked to travel on Tuesday 23 June, may travel on an earlier LNER service on the same day. Travel before 12:00 where temperatures are expected to be cooler.
  • Alternatively, LNER tickets dated Tuesday 23 June can be used on any LNER service on Monday 22 June.
  • If you have connecting services with another operator, please check with them directly as to what their travel advice is.
