Police have recovered a body from the river in York this afternoon (Wednesday).
It follows an extrensive search for a missing York woman.
Officers cordoned off an area of the bank of the Ouse after concerns for the safety of the woman were raised by her family earlier today.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said enquiries had led officers to believe the woman may have entered the river.
At 3.18pm, the police issued this update: “Police searching for a woman who is believed to have entered the River Ouse in York have sadly found a body.



“At around 1.30pm on 22 October, the Yorkshire and Humber Marine and Underwater Search Unit sadly recovered the body of a woman from the river near to New Walk in York.
“Her death is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.
“Our thoughts remain with her family at this sad time.”
The York Rescue Boat volunteers were also called out today. The cordons have now been lifted.
