Police incident on York bridge

The emergency services and York Rescue Boat were called to a late night incident on a York bridge.

They were responding to reports of a vulnerable person on Clifton Bridge on Saturday night (5 October).

A York Rescue Boat spokesperson said: “We were requested by police for assistance to concerns for a person on Clifton Bridge.

“The crew responded from Queens Staith and was on scene in a matter of minutes.”

They said the person was helped by the police to the right side of the bridge and taken into the care of officers.

The spokesperson added: “This is why it is vitally important we are on active patrol during busy periods and on call 24/7, 365 days a year.”
