Police who issued CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with an investigation into a serious sexual assault in York say he’s been identified.
It happened overnight between Saturday 4 October and Sunday 5 October in the Fossgate area.
Officers in York said: “Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal and supported the investigation. Your support makes all the difference.
“As the man has now been identified, we kindly ask that the appeal and images be removed from any platforms where they were shared.”

Although officers say they appreciate the images are not of the highest quality, they hope the man will come forward, or that someone who may recognise him will share this information, as any detail could be vital to the investigation.
