Pix: York supermarket reopens after being ‘transformed’

A York supermarket reopened its doors today following a three-month refurb.

The Co-op in Ryedale Court, Haxby, has a new look and range, with opening hours extended to 7am-10pm, seven days a week.

New refrigeration cuts energy consumption and supports Co-op’s carbon reduction goals.

There’s now an in-store bakery and Costa Coffee Express, along with a range of food and drink to go.

Parcel collection services are available in-store via Amazon and DPD.

Online home delivery of groceries is available via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Co-op’s own online shop, with Uber Eats coming soon.

Josephine Turnbull, Co-op area manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Haxby, and proud to be part of local community life.

“Co-op is committed to backing high streets and communities, and we work to ensure our stores are a hub locally.

“The store has been transformed, and the whole team is really looking forward to welcoming our members and customers back into the store now works are concluded – we’re here to serve and support the community, conveniently.”

Soft plastic recycling is available in store – making it easier for shoppers to return and recycle materials that are often not universally accepted via household kerbside recycling, such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.
