“Out of control” fire in Dunnington

Following reports of a fire that “appeared out of control,” fire fighters were called to a York village.

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from York was called to Dunnington at 9.53pm last night (May 2) after reports of an ‘out of control’ blaze.

Upon arrival, the crew located a controlled burn measuring nine by five metres.

“Due to the size and the radiated heat which was affecting adjacent buildings crews used one hose reel jet to reduce the size of the fire,” said a spokesperson for the force.
