New café opens at York shopping centre in double-quick time

A café that opened in double-quick time at a York superstore has been confirmed as a permanent fixture.

The Little Yorkshire Coffee Company is now running the ground floor café at Go Outdoors at the Vangarde Shopping Park.

It replaced the Alpine Café which shut early in December.

The new café moved in within 48 hours and was up and running two days before Christmas.

“The refreshed café ensures customers can continue to enjoy great-quality food and drink during their visit, with a full relaunch now live and a plan for seasonal menu changes,” a Go Outdoors spokesperson said.

The Little Yorkshire Coffee Company, part of Event Mobiles Ltd, runs cafés, kiosks and event catering across Yorkshire.

It uses coffee roasted in York, locally baked cakes, and employing a regional workforce.

Nick Rowlands, director of property at Go Outdoors, said: “Delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience is always a priority for us, especially during the Christmas season.

“The Little Yorkshire Coffee Company demonstrated exactly the professionalism and agility we needed, and we’re delighted to have them on board as our café partner in York.”

As the café settles into full operation, the business will be looking to create new jobs.

Director of The Little Yorkshire Coffee Company Jason Greenwood said:“We were pleased to step in and support Go Outdoors at a crucial time.

“Our team worked incredibly hard to get the café up and running in just 48 hours. Partnering with a national retailer while championing our Yorkshire roots is something we’re very proud of.”

The company continues to expand its footprint across the region and is open to exploring additional café and hospitality partnerships as it grows.

The café will be open 9am – 5pm initially, with extended hours to suit seasonal trade.
