Man dies after car crashes into building in village near York

A man has died in a crash early this morning (Monday).

It happened in Barmby Moor east of York, shortly after midnight.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “A white Ford Mondeo was travelling along Broadhelm Business Park when for reasons not yet clear, the car is believed to have left the road and collided with a building.

“Emergency services were deployed however the driver of the car, a 47-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

“His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.”

No other vehicle is believed to be involved.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to work at the scene. It has now reopened.

Humberside Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision, or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with their enquiries, to please call 101, quoting log 5 of 29 December 2025.
