Police who taped off a main York road last night (Thursday) have given more details about the incident.
As we reported yesterday, a section of Acomb Road near West Bank Park was taped off for several hours.
Both drivers and pedestrians were turned back by officers. The cordon ran between Grantham Drive and Moorgate.
Now a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police has given us this update: “At about 4.30pm yesterday, we attended a report of a cyclist lying in the road, on Acomb Road in York.
“Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance, but sadly was later pronounced deceased.
“His family have been informed. It is believed that no other vehicles were involved, and this was a tragic medical episode.”
