Kitchen fire causes smoke damage throughout Harrogate home

Firefighters tackled a kitchen fire in Harrogate in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Harrogate and Knaresborough crews went to the incident at Albert Place at 3.24am.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Hot oil in a chip pan had started the fire which caused smoke damage throughout the house.

“The fire damage was confined to the pan, hob, and floor area around the cooker.

“Crews used four breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property, and a thermal imaging camera to check for any residual hotspots.

“Neighbouring properties were also checked for smoke logging.”
