Former York club goes on sale for £2.5 million

A building which used to be home to a York working men’s club has gone on sale for £2.5 million.

Numbers 22 and 26 Blossom Street have been converted into two blocks of flats.

The building was once the New York Club and Institute.

The building, next to the Premier Inn hotel, dates to the late 18th century.

It is one the few remaining Georgian buildings on the north side of Blossom Street which survive from that period.

The working men’s club closed in 2019.

Developers Adies York Ltd then converted the Grade II-listed building into flats and constructed a new block at the back of the site.

They won permission to market the flats as holiday lets last year.

Now the development is on the market with Ashtons estate agents.

It describes the two-blocks of flats as “an exceptional freehold residential and holiday let investment opportunity”.

There are 11 one-bedroom apartments and three two-bedroom apartments.

Flats in the old building include “newly fitted kitchens, contemporary bathrooms and upgraded internal finishes throughout, whilst retaining their period character”.

In the new block, “each apartment benefits from its own individual air source heat pump and modern energy-efficient design”.

The development is on sale for “offers over £2.5 million” and the private tender deadline is 29 June.
