Police are searching for a wanted man who ran off from his vehicle at Bilbrough Services East, on the A64 near York, after he was stopped by police.
He is described as a black male, 6ft 2ins tall, large build wearing a dark tracksuit.
A police spokesperson said: “He has run across muddy fields so is likely covered in mud.
“If anyone sights a male matching this description in the area please do not approach him and contact us on 999 quoting log 177.”
