North Yorkshire has plenty of hills, banks and moors for bike rides – including Chimney Bank in Rosedale.
And today (Sunday) there’s a event being organised by Ryedale Velo Club to cycle up it – and raise cash for good causes.
Proceeds will go towards three charities: Ryedale Folk Museum, Ryedale Special Families and Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team.
The highway shares the title of steepest road in England – the other is Hardknott Pass in Cumbria.
The first person to ride up Chimney Bank in Rosedale was Edgar Milner in 1912.
The residents of Rosedale were so impressed, they presented him with a medal which is on display in the Ryedale Folk Museum.
