Crews called out to two fires in Malton and Norton

Firefighters from Malton were called out to two building fires last night (Thursday).

At 6.19pm, they responded to reports of a building on fire on Weaverthorpe, Malton.

Cladding on the side of a building had caught fire. It had been extinguished by members of the public. Crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera.

Then at 11.56pm, Malton firefighters were called to a fire in a derelict building on Bazeleys Lane, Norton.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival they found one derelict building well alight.

“Crews used main jets, hose reel jets and lighting to extinguish the fire and prevent spread.”
