A bus and a van crashed on a main road in York city centre this morning (Friday).
It happened after bus swerved to avoid a cyclist in the road on Gillygate at around 6.15am.
The road was closed for around three hours but reopened at about 9.10am.
Vehicle transporters have removed both the stricken bus and van.
The windscreen of the electric First York bus was smashed in the collision. The front of the van, belonging to Simon Baynes Wholesale, was buckled.
A spokesperson for First York said: “Our number 6 service was travelling on Gillygate at 6.15am today when the driver had to take immediate action to avoid a fallen cyclist.
“There were no reports of any injuries and we will assist the police with its investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident.”

On Facebook, Simon Baynes posted: “Just a quick update. A bus has hit us head on in Gillygate this morning. Drivers are OK.
“Just waiting for recovery to bring the van back to depot, problem is it’s full of orders so they might be slightly late this morning, sorry for the inconvenience.”
North Yorkshire Police posted: “Gillygate reopened at 9.10am to allow the recovery of a bus.
“The minor, non-injury collision also involved a cyclist at around 6.15am.”
