A silver Volkswagen Golf collided with two other vehicles and the curb, before flipping several times and coming to rest on the opposite side of the road.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The two occupants of the Golf, a woman and an infant, were assessed by paramedics at scene with minor injuries and taken to hospital for further assessment as a precaution.

“There was damage to multiple vehicles involved.

“The road was closed for a short time while we investigated the scene and to allow the vehicles involved to be recovered.

“We’re appealing for any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to contact us.”
