Burst water main threatened to flood homes in York village

A burst water main caused concern in a York village last night (Thursday)

Firefighters were called to the leak in Bishopthorpe at 10.40pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A York crew was mobilised to reports of a burst water main threatening to flood a number of properties.

“Crews were able to use a main pump, hard suction and delivery hose to divert the water away from building until Yorkshire Water engineers attended and we able to fix the main.”
