Police have been alerted after the second deliberate fire in two nights in the same area of York.

Firefighters were called to Swinerton Avenue, near the riverside off Water End, at 9.27pm last night (Wednesday).

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a fire in the open, upon arrival there was a bin and set of drawers on fire.
