A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash in York today (Friday).
It happened close to the Milner Hotel on Station Road just after 8.30am.
A VW Crafter van and a cycle collided. The rider, a local man aged his 70s, was taken to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The air ambulance landed in Museum Gardens. Police and road ambulance crews were also outside the park gates.
Queen Street, Station Road and Station Avenue are cordoned off between Leeman Road and Blossom Street.
Police guards are at either end. Pedestrians can still go through. Taxis have access to the station from the Blossom Street end.





Police say the driver of the grey VW Crafter panel van, a man aged in his 60s from Leeds, is assisting officers with the investigation.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call at 8.32am this morning to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist on Station Road in York.
“A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including two ambulances and the air ambulance, and one patient was airlifted to hospital.”
