Rescue launched after person in the river in York

A person was rescued from the River Foss early this morning (Thursday).

Firefighters were called to the incident on Foss Bank at 5.06am.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York and Acomb crews were mobilised to a water rescue after reports of a person stuck in the river.

“On arrival of crews person was out of the river and was then brought into the care of ambulance on scene.”
